What Fee Math is for

Online marketplaces rarely charge one fee. A single order can carry a transaction fee, a payment fee, a listing fee, an advertising fee and a fixed per-order charge, each calculated on a different base. Added up in your head they look small. Added up across a year they decide whether a product is worth selling at all.

Fee Math puts those charges in one place. You enter a price and your costs, and the calculator shows every fee as its own line with the rate behind it, then what is left for you. You can see where the money goes, change one number and watch the result move, and use the answer to set a price that actually earns what you expect.

Why the numbers can be trusted

Every rate lives in a single data file and each calculator page shows when its rates were last checked and links to the marketplace’s own fee page. Where a figure cannot be taken from an official source, such as Amazon’s FBA fulfilment fees which depend on exact size and weight, the calculator asks you to enter it instead of guessing. Where a rate comes from a news source rather than an official page, the page says so. The formulas are pure functions covered by automated tests, and everything is calculated in your browser, so your prices and costs are never sent anywhere. The methodology page explains this in detail.

Who these calculators are for

They are for individual sellers and small shops: makers on Etsy deciding whether free shipping is affordable, Amazon sellers checking a product before they order stock, eBay resellers who want to know what a flip really earns, and Ukrainian sellers who need to see marketplace fees and sole proprietor taxes side by side.

How to use a calculator

  1. Pick your marketplace

Choose Etsy, Amazon, eBay or Ukraine and open the calculator that matches your question.

  2. Enter your price and costs

Type the selling price, what the item costs you and what shipping costs. Defaults are filled in so you see a result at once.

  3. Read the breakdown

Every fee appears as its own line. Adjust a number to see how a different price, country or ad share changes your profit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fee Math free?

Yes. All calculators are free to use, with no sign-up and no email.

Are my prices and costs stored anywhere?

No. Calculations run in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server.

Where do the rates come from?

From the marketplaces’ own fee pages, linked on each calculator with the date they were last checked. A few Ukrainian rates come from news sources and are marked as such.

How accurate are the results?

They are estimates built on published rates. Marketplaces change fees, apply fees by account type and add charges such as VAT on fees that are not modelled. Treat the result as a close estimate and confirm it against your own statements.

Which marketplaces are covered?

Etsy, Amazon (US), eBay (US) and, in Ukrainian, Prom.ua, Rozetka, Nova Poshta cash on delivery and the FOP group 3 tax. Etsy payment rates are included for 14 countries and regions.
