What eBay charges sellers

  • Final value fee: a percentage of the total sale (item, shipping and sales tax), 13.6% in most categories up to 7,500 USD.
  • Per-order fee: 0.30 USD on orders of 10 USD or less and 0.40 USD above.
  • Insertion fee: 0.35 USD per listing beyond the free allowance (250 per month as standard).
  • International fee: 1.65% when the buyer is outside your country.
  • Promoted Listings: an optional ad rate you choose per listing.

How it adds up

A $50.00 sale with $5.00 shipping in a standard category pays $7.88 in eBay fees (14.3% of the sale). Rates vary by category, with handbags, jewellery, trading cards, books and athletic shoes each following their own rules, so the category you pick matters.
