How Etsy fees are calculated

  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping.
  • Payment processing: a percentage plus a fixed fee that depends on the country of your bank account, charged on the total including shipping and tax. For example 3% + 0.25 USD in the United States and 6% + 0.30 USD in Ukraine.
  • Listing fee: 0.20 USD each time a listing is published or renewed.
  • Offsite Ads: 15% of the order, or 12% once shop sales reach 10,000 USD over the previous 365 days, never more than 100 USD per order.
  • Currency conversion: 2.5% when you list in a currency other than your payment account’s.

A worked example

Take a $25.00 item sold with $5.00 shipping, bought for $8.00 and shipped for $4.50. With a US payment account Etsy keeps $3.30 in total: $1.95 transaction fee, $1.15 processing and the $0.20 listing fee. You net $14.20, a margin of 47.3%.

The same order paid into a Ukrainian account carries a higher processing rate (6% + 0.30 USD), so processing alone is $2.10 and your net drops to $13.25. Switching the country in the calculator shows this difference for your own prices.

Small orders lose the most

Fixed fees weigh on cheap items. A $10.00 item with free shipping and a US account pays $1.40 in fees, which is 14% of the sale, because the flat 0.25 processing charge and the 0.20 listing fee are the same whatever the price. Selling in bundles or setting a minimum order value is a common way to dilute them.

What this calculator assumes

  • The transaction fee and Offsite Ads fee are applied to item price plus shipping. Etsy’s fee page does not spell out the exact base for Offsite Ads, so check it against your own order statements.
  • The listing fee is counted once per order. Untick it if the listing was not renewed because of this sale.
  • All amounts are in your payment account currency. Etsy sets the listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap in USD, so enter converted values in Advanced if you use another currency.
  • VAT that Etsy may charge on its own fees, regulatory operating fees and deposit fees in some countries are not included.
  • The conversion fee base is not specified by Etsy; it is estimated on item price plus shipping.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take from each sale?

On every order Etsy charges a 6.5% transaction fee and a payment processing fee. A listing fee of 0.20 USD applies when a listing is published or renewed, and Offsite Ads adds 15% or 12% only on orders that came through those ads.

Why does the payment fee depend on my country?

Etsy sets payment processing rates by the country of the seller’s bank account. For example 3% + 0.25 for US accounts and 6% + 0.30 USD for Ukrainian accounts. Choose your country in the calculator to see your rate.

What is the Offsite Ads fee?

If a buyer orders after clicking one of Etsy’s ads off Etsy, the fee is 15% of the order, dropping to 12% when shop sales reach 10,000 USD over 365 days, and capped at 100 USD per order.

Does the calculator include VAT or sales tax?

Tax paid by the buyer is not part of your revenue, but it is added to the base for the payment processing fee. VAT that Etsy may add to its own fees is not included.

How accurate are these numbers?

They follow Etsy’s published rates on the date shown at the top of this page. Etsy changes fees from time to time, so confirm on the official pages linked above before you set prices.
