Mercari fees used in this calculator
- Selling fee: 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, since 6 January 2025.
- No separate payment processing fee and no listing fee.
- Cash-out: free by direct deposit, $3 per Instant Pay transfer.
- Buyers pay their own Buyer Protection fee of 3.6%. It does not come out of your earnings.
Worked examples
A $40.00 item with an $8.00 label paid by the buyer: Mercari charges 10% of $48.00, so $4.80, and you earn $35.20. After $12.00 for the item you keep $23.20.
With free shipping the fee is charged on the item price only, $4.00, but the $8.00 label comes out of your earnings, leaving $28.00 and a profit of $16.00.
What the calculator does not include
- Sales tax, which Mercari collects from the buyer.
- Extra charges if the package is heavier or larger than the label you chose.
- Fees in other countries. Rates here are for Mercari US.
Why the 10% fee is often more than 10%, the Buyer Protection fee and Mercari vs eBay are explained in our guide Mercari Fees 2026.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate Mercari fees?
Add the item price and the shipping the buyer pays, then take 10%. If you offer free shipping, the fee is 10% of the item price and the label cost comes out of your earnings.
How much does Mercari take from a $100 sale?
$10.00 with no shipping charged, so $90.00 reaches you if you cash out by direct deposit.
Should I choose buyer-paid or free shipping in the calculator?
Pick the option you set on the listing. Buyer-paid shipping adds the label to the fee base; free shipping keeps the fee lower but you pay the label.
